The Vienna Workshops on Portuguese Linguistics
The VPL workshop series was founded in 2019 by Irene Fally & Anna Kocher with the aim of bringing together researcher focusing on Portuguese and linguistic varieties of the lusophone world, and creating a platform for discussing various aspects of linguistic theory and methodology as they relate to Portuguese.
The following editions have taken place:
- Empirical Research on Portuguese focused on empirical approaches to the study of the Portuguese language. It was hosted by the Department of Romance Studies of the University of Vienna and was held virtually on 11-12 December 2020.
- Acquisition Across Varieties focused on the different acquisition contexts and the challenges & opportunities arising from these contexts for Portuguese L1 and L2 acquisition. It was hosted by the Department of Romance Studies of the University of Vienna and was held as an in-person event on 16-17 November 2023.
